CLIFF (GANH OR GHENH) DA DIA
Geological formation reminiscent of a series of large stacked plates, hence the Vietnamese name Ghenh da dia [plate cliff].
An amalgam composed of 35,000 columns of stone. It is a geological formation formed nearly 200 million years ago following the cooling of a lava flow from a volcanic eruption (Vân Hoa site, 30 km as the crow flies) and which has retracted to form these prismatic columns perpendicular to the cooling surface. The whole evokes a series of large stacked plates, hence the Vietnamese name Ghenh da dia[plate cliff].
