GO THAP SITE
An archaeological site known for having served as a resistance base during the war against the French and Americans.
This is an archaeological site where artefacts dating back to the Oc-Eo civilization have been discovered. But the site is also famous for having served as a resistance base during the war, first against the French, then against the Americans. Doc Binh Kieu, leader of the resistance against French troops, commanded the base at Dông Thap Muoi (the name of the hill overlooking the site). His headquarters were located on the north side of the hill, behind the Co Tu tower built during the reign of Emperor Thiêu Tri.
