A royal palace, English and French style, hosting a summer university on the Magdalena peninsula.

This English and French style palace was inaugurated in 1912 for the royal family and later transformed into a university. In 1908, the Santander City Council gave King Alfonso XIII and his wife Victoria Eugenia the Magdalena peninsula to build a royal summer palace, which the royal couple used as a holiday resort between 1913 and 1930. In 1932, the government approved the creation of the Menendez Pelayo University. Today, it is one of the largest summer universities in Europe.

Visite instructive de ce Palais qui a été pendant longtemps la résidence d'été de la famille royale. Belle vue sur la Baie de Santander depuis les jardins.

Le palace est très joli, la vue également. Pour y aller il faut parcourir un parc, qui est également très beau et bien entretenu. S'il y a une chose à faire à Santander c'est celle-ci. Il y a de beaux points d'observations en haut du parc. Le seul bémol est qu'il est relativement difficile de se garer à proximité du parc, pour avoir une place il faut y venir en soirée.

The royal site Magdalena inspires quiet and the promenade. Large wooded, very well maintained (royal estate requires). I regret the presence of a mini zoo because I against the zoos. The palace from the outside very pretty and is surrounded partially gardens. The view of the sea and the bay of Santander are superb.
