IGLESIA DE SAN PEDRO APÓSTOL

This beautiful church dedicated to San Pedro is one of three in Puente La Reina. Inside you can admire a gothic image of the Virgin of El Puy, better known as the Virgen del Txori. According to the legend, when the image of the Virgin was in a chapel located in the middle of the bridge, a small bird, txori in Basque, came to wash her face with the water of the river that it collected in its wings. This symbol also appears in the city's coat of arms.
