Church classified as a national monument, with an abundance of sculptures, a large plateresque altarpiece and a silver monstrance
Classified as a National Monument, the Church of Santa María la Real is one of the most representative works of Romanesque art in Navarre. It was begun in the 12th century and has a magnificent portal whose style corresponds to the transition from Romanesque to Gothic, with a wealth of sculptures and a remarkable wealth of expression. Inside the church is a large Plateresque altarpiece and its 15th-century silver monstrance, one of the oldest in Spain.
