Citadel to defend the city from French claims, known as the Castle of San Pedro
Jaca has always been a strategic point near the border and a power issue. In 1592, it was decided to create a citadel to defend the city from French claims. The Italian architect Tiburzio Spannocchi was put in charge of this project of a huge pentagonal fortress. It will be known until the 19th century under the name of San Pedro Castle. To see in particular: the bastions, the powder magazine, the church, the place of arms, and the museum of military miniatures.

La citadelle de Jaca, autrement appelé Castillo San Pedro est un bel exemple de l'architecture militaire. Dans les douves de la forteresse on peut observer un troupeau de biches et de cerfs à l'année. Possibilité de visiter l'intérieur (visites guidées et audioguides disponibles) et il y a aussi un musée de miniatures militaires. Possibilité de visiter soit l'un soit l'autre ou les deux.
