LA FAVORITA
Read moreA cosy tavern on Calle de Avellanos, a lively street in the historic centre of Burgos. In a rustic decor of stone and brick walls and hanging hams, you are served - with a smile to some extent - excellent pinchos such as bolets a la plancha, white asparagus or pumpkin cream and small ham sandwiches. In the restaurant, the house is also famous for its "a la brasa" grilled meats and its wide range of Iberian sausages and cheeses. Not to mention its fine wine list!
MESÓN LOS HERREROS
Read moreNear the Plaza Mayor, a nice bar to eat tapas, kebabs, cazuelitas accompanied by red Rioja wines. Here you can try the most representative tapas of Burgos gastronomy, such as cojonudo, a slice of bread with fried quail egg, chilli pepper and fried chorizo. There are also charcuterie and cheese boards as well as hamburgers and sandwiches. You can sit in the large bar on the ground floor or in one of the dining rooms upstairs. Very noisy, very typical and the food is good.

LA QUINTA DEL MONJE

It serves original and tasty tapas: egg with truffle and mushrooms, tuna tataki with soy sauce, pan-fried foie gras with mango jam, blood sausage with piquillo sauce... Don't go without, the establishment has actually won awards for its tapas in 2018 and 2019. Nice references in terms of wines. An interesting stop on the Burgos tapas route!
CASA PANCHO
Read moreWe recommend a stop at this tavern on Calle San Lorenzo, which is popular with the locals, to try two of Burgos' great tapeo classics: the "cojonudo", which consists of a quail egg, red pepper and chorizo on a slice of bread, and the "cojonuda", where the chorizo is replaced by a slice of blood sausage. Simple, good and effective! And if you are still hungry, let yourself be tempted by a pincho de croqueta, peppers filled with seafood or a delicious slice of home-made tortilla. The choice will not be easy!
