Archaeological site with engravings on the rock forming an important set of Paleolithic rock art of the Iberian Peninsula
Declared a World Heritage Site in 2010, this archaeological site is one of the most important groups of open-air Palaeolithic rock art in the Iberian Peninsula. It contains 645 engravings made on the rock eroded by the Águeda River, depicting, among others, deer, aurochs, an extinct bovine species and goats. They were discovered at the end of the 1980s and date from the Upper Paleolithic, between 22,000 and 11,000 BC.
