Under the aegis of the Catholic Kings, it became the most powerful place of devotion in Spain and the cult of the Virgin of Guadalupe spread to the New World. Today, it can still be seen in the monastery's church. Although it was looted at the beginning of the 19th century, it still preserves its Mudejar-style cloister, its refectory and the sumptuous gifts offered by rich pilgrims. In the sacristy there is a beautiful collection of paintings by Zurbarán.

je pensais mieux
la visite est rapide. Vous payez 6 euros (cash uniquement) pour le guide qui vous conduit d'une pièce à l'autre sans passion. Bien sûr, qui sait combien de fois il fait ça par jour... Le seul tic, c'est quand il nous dit que la pièce est pleine de Zurbaran. Et admirer ce maître est magnifique. Le musée des livres enluminés est également magnifique.
