THE CASTLE

It is the identity sign of the city. It was home to the Iberians and then the Romans, Visigoths and Arabs. Its construction was completed in 1449 at the request of the Marquis of Villena, master of the Order of Santiago. And its style is logically Gothic applied to military architecture. It was also used as a prison in the early twentieth century. Because apart from its position, it is surrounded by an impressive moat of 25 meters deep, carved in the rock. To reach it will be the occasion of a pretty walk and of pretty points of view, but it is not visited.
