A real time machine! The Budapest Retro Museum Experience opened in summer 2021. It took over six years to create this three-storey museum, which retraces the 1970s-1980s in Hungary. A museum dedicated to the whole family, to learn more about the retro era and post-war popular culture, in an interactive, historical and fun way. Guided tours in several languages by prior arrangement. At the entrance is a retro bistro for the full experience.

Museum open daily from 10am to 8pm. Last admission at 7pm. Retro Bistro: open Sunday to Thursday from 10am to 8:30pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am to 10pm. Tickets approx. €10.
Message from Management
The Budapest Retro Interactive Museum is located in downtown Budapest. It offers interactive time travel to the Communist era. Here, you can play behind the Iron Curtain, become a pioneer, policeman, astronaut or journalist in 70s and 80s Hungary. You can also patrol in a real LADA police car, or try your hand as an announcer in a TV studio. To enjoy these experiences, you can buy tickets online and at the museum, which are valid for 1 year. The museum also has a retro bistro where you can eat and drink. You can also organize a wide variety of private events. An address for a fantastic adventure!

There are different kinds of retro items separated in categories. There was even a space section with some space foods exhibits.
I drove a police car, controlled switches to illuminate different space objects and saw myself in the mirror with a typical retro dress.
This museum was a great experience.
