A fountain to be admired with its three Corinthian columns surmounted by Latin inscriptions and lion heads.

This fountain, built in 1626, is named after Alvise Rimondi, the Venetian governor of Rethymno. It covered a large part of the drinking water needs of the city's inhabitants. Through a series of pipes, discovered during recent works, the water reached the city from the Evligia hill, to the south. Today we can admire the three Corinthian columns with Latin inscriptions and the lion's heads - the symbol of Venice - from which the water gushes. According to the ancient legend, whoever drinks this water will never grow old!

Quand on visite la jolie ville de Rethymno, on ne peut pas faire l’impasse sur la belle fontaine Rimondi, vestige du passé. Endroit très agréable où il fait bon s’arrêter dans un des nombreux cafés .

Vieille fontaine originale
Surprenante parce qu'il ne reste qu'un mur avec les 3 têtes de lions. Et il faut vraiment se trouver face à elle pour la voir. On peut facilement passer à côté. Et on dit que boire de son eau ou s'en asperger porterait bonheur. . .
