Famous tavern since 1986. The tables carefully set up in the shaded and flowered patio are of the most beautiful effect. What awaits you on the plates is also very appealing; refined Cretan specialties, grilled or stewed local mountain meats, veal fillet carpaccio, snails or even sea bass fillet. Our favorite is the Chateaubriand for 2! Very well located on one of the arteries of the old city between the old port and the fortress. Excellent address where the locals come to eat meat.

There are better places to eat in Rethymna, there must be, and I wish you all the luck in the world finding them. No more than 90 seconds walk from the busy tourist area, Alana is an oasis of calm, cool, and great value, terrific food.

The three of us visited for lunch. The service was quick. We had a beef ragu, chicken penne, and seafood orzo. While they were prepared we had a plate of various bread, accompanied by oil, olives, and the most fabulous beans.

All three dishes were delicious. With drinks, the total bill was under €70, great value.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alana, we shall visit again.
