A beautiful cave near Kato Zakros, one of the largest in Greece.
A good hour's walk from Kato Zakros along a coastal path leads to the cave of Pelekita or "the Fig Tree". The cave, also accessible by boat, is 310 meters long and is one of the largest in Greece. The interior, composed of high rooms, is impressive. The rocks, the white pillars, the stalagmites which, in the third room, rise to a height of about 10 meters, the lake that one admires before the exit and the astonishing geological formations compose a canvas of great beauty.
