A historical cave, known for the tragedy of February 1823, in Milatos.
The site is known for the tragedy of February 1823: about 2,000 women and children and 150 armed men took refuge there to escape Hassan Pasha and his Ottoman troops. A fortnight-long siege ensued. The Ottomans then promised to let their lives be saved if the villagers surrendered. When they came out, all the men were massacred, and only some children and women were saved to be sold into slavery. Every year, a feast is held in the chapel at the entrance of the cave to honour the victims.
