RUINS OF THE CITY'S FORTIFICATIONS

The construction of the fortifications begins in 916 BC and lasts five years. As an inaccessible city, Mahdia occupies a leading political and economic role in Arab-Islamic and Mediterranean history for over 500 years. You can still see one of the bases in the north, where one of the two round towers was built, which closed the canal protecting the three city walls of the city. The city's only entrance was then to the south.
