For 70 million years, the sea covered this region and deposited deposits with high lime, which now form the base of the Bükk Mountains. The water easily widens this limestone stone and the mountain includes about 800 caves. Two of them are located near the Palota Hotel of Lillafüred: the cave of Josiah István has beautiful stalactites; in Anna's, the limestone covered plants, sometimes to whole trees.Another curiosity to visit is the waterfall Fátyol (the veil), where the energetic waters of the Szalajka torrent rush into a series of waterfalls down the steps that erosion carved in limestone. At the top of this small valley in Bükkszenkerest, a museum exhibits an exhibition on the traditional fashion of glass production in the region (Bükki Üveghuták Ipartörténeti Múzeuma). At the bottom of the valley, there is Szilvásvárad and its famous lipizzans horses.
