PLAYA GRANDE

Scrupulously protected, Playa Grande is a true sanctuary for leatherback turtles that come here to lay their eggs. The situation of the leatherback turtles in Cahuita has become catastrophic, so the community of Cahuita and non-profit associations have become involved in order to offer these giants of the sea a chance of survival and organize outings several times a week to protect the nests and study them. The nursery of the Turtle Rescue Cahuita association allows to protect the eggs during the incubation and nesting period.
