Rio Savegre is a natural cordon connecting the central mountain range to the Pacific, one of the cleanest rivers in Turrialba.

Since June 2017, the Río Savegre has been a Unesco Biosphere Heritage site. It is a natural cordon linking the central cordillera to the Pacific. It is considered one of the cleanest rivers in the country. The river flows through 4 cantons: Dota, Tarrazu, Pérez Zeledón and Quepos. Its source is Cerro de la Muerte, in the Talamanca mountain range, at an altitude of 3,491 metres. It's also one of the best-known rivers for water sports, especially rafting, with its moderate rapids!
