Rio Savegre is a natural cordon connecting the central mountain range to the Pacific, one of the cleanest rivers in Turrialba.
The Rio Savegre has been listed as a Biosphere Heritage Site by Unesco since June 2017. It is a natural cordon connecting the central mountain range to the Pacific. It is considered one of the cleanest rivers in the country. The river crosses 4 cantons: Dota, Tarrazu, Perez Zeledon and Quepos. It has its source in Cerro de la Muerte, in the Talamanca mountain range, at an altitude of 3,491 meters. It is also one of the most famous rivers for water activities, especially for rafting, with moderate rapids!
