Basilica, the most famous church in Costa Rica, of Byzantine and Hispanic-Moorish style, and medals exposed in glass cases

The Basílica is the most famous church in the country, where pilgrims pay homage to the patron saint, Our Lady of the Angels, more simply called La Negrita. A statuette with her effigy was discovered in 1635 by a young peasant girl, and the miraculous healings that followed were at the origin of the pilgrimage that every year on August 2 sees hundreds of devotees walking from San José (22 km) and covering the last meters on their knees. The most beautiful place in Cartago.

The Cota Rica is mainly a destination visited for its nature, a small hook by Cartago Basilica, placing the country at the level of its population. It's kind of like our "Lourdes." There are a lot of people, fervent religious. The place before us is very large to accommodate crowds; some do not hesitate to go back to the choir on the knees even when it is not the day of great pilgrimage. Note that the statue of the Negrita is only visible on August 2. Do not hesitate to bypass the Basilica. On the lower right side is a thermal spring where the inhabitants come filling bottles.
