AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL DE HONG KONG

Airport and passenger services
4.8/5
5 reviews

Located on the north coast of the island of Lantau and built on an artificial Island, Hong Kong International Airport is one of the most convenient airports in the world. He was part of one of the largest equipment projects ever undertaken in Hong Kong. The work began in 1993 and the opening of the airport took place in 1998. Nearly 1 000 ha were conquered on the streams. Two suspended bridges (1 377 m long), new roads and Airport Express, a high-speed train connect the island of Lantau Island to Kowloon and Hong Kong Island in about minutes. There are numerous restaurants and luxury shops within the airport. Wifi is free.

To reach Hong Kong, the most convenient and quickest solution is to take the train (Airport Express) for about HK $ 100, a free shuttle service connects your hotel to Kowloon and Central station. The taxi is much more expensive for Central, with about HK $ 300 and Tsim Sha Tsui, about HK $ 230. This means adding HK $ 5 for each bag. Finally, the most economical (but least practical) solution is bus, the A 11 and the A 12 serve Hong Kong island (HK $ 45), the A 21 serves Kowloon (HK $ 35). Pay attention, because bus drivers do not make the currency.

To reach Macao, ferries provide direct connections between the old Portuguese city and the airport.

STAR FERRY

Shipping company
4.8/5
5 reviews

The Star Ferry is a real institution created in 1888. Its green and white boats commute every 6 to 12 minutes from 6:30 a. m. to 11:30 p. m. between Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon side and Central and Wan Chai, Hong Kong side. This crossing of Victoria's "Perfumed Bay" provides an exceptional view of the skyscraper forest on both sides of the bay. The Star Ferry also organizes cruises to the day. Check with the Star Ferry side Kowloon. In addition to the Star Ferry, there are other navigable means of transport on Hong Kong:

Kaidos are local non-air ferries. From Aberdeen, they serve the port of Sok Kwu Wan on the island of Lamma. From Peng Chau, we join the Trappist Monastery or Discovery Bay.

Sampans, types of sea taxis, are often used by fishermen and villagers to travel from island to island. They are also found in the fishing harbors of Aberdeen, Cheung Chau and Sai Kung. If we miss the last ferry from Central (00:30) to Lamma, we can catch a sampan from Aberdeen. Fishermen offer a Sampan tower, starting from Saikung, with a half hour duration for a price of HK $ 50 to $ 100.

HONG KONG TRAMWAYS

Getting around by streetcar
4.7/5
3 reviews

A very pleasant way of locomotion, these trams give the time to observe the surroundings all at leisure. In operation since 1904, they are only circulating on the coastal wrap, north of Hong Kong Island, between Shau Kei Wan on the east (via Happy Valley for some) and Kennedy Town on the Extreme west of the island. From the top of the imperial, the journey, along 16 km, takes a completely different dimension. The journey becomes magical in the evening when Hong Kong lights up.

Another alternative is the 15 C bus link between the Star Ferry terminal on Central and the funicular station. This one, the construction of which was funded by philanthropist Lawrence Kadoorie, leads to Peak (Lugard Road), since 1888. The Sky Pass is not necessary because you can have the same view right next to the arrival station.
