DAPENG PENINSULA

The small fishing port of Nan'ao (南澳) is famous for its excellent seafood, the best in Shenzhen. The ancient fortress of Dapeng, a fortified town built during the Ming Dynasty (1394), was a strategic military site. Its four doors remain, as are some sections of its ramparts. The architecture of the city follows a veritable maze of streets, so typical of the medieval Chinese cities and where there are still some temples still active.
