This former town of Hua County (Huaxian) is now known as Huadu, the capital of the flower. Its main attraction is the memorial of Hong Xiuquan, the founder of the Taiping uprising movement and a child of the country. The memorial is in fact the ancient residence of the historic character, located about a dozen kilometres from Huadu, in the Hakka village of Guanlubu, the native land of the Hong and Lin clans. The building is a restitution of the original, burned by the Qing troops: residential quarters, a private school and a temple of the ancestors. A recreation base developed around the Furongzhang waterfall, a 90 metre cliff located 38 kilometres north of Guangzhou. The vast expanse of water at the base of the waterfall is open to bathing and can accommodate more than 10 000 people.
