Travel Guide Shitiping 石梯平

The coastline of Shitiping (at kilometre 65) is drawn by volcanic rocks with convoluted shapes, sculpted by the erosion of the sea. The seabed is incredibly rich, making Shitiping one of the best whale and dolphin watching sites on the East Coast. From April to November, about ten boats offer the excursion. At kilometre 68, the Shiouguluan River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean, is surmounted by a large 120 m long bridge, the Changhung Bridge (長虹橋). The place is really strategic to admire the mountains. A little further on, the Tropic of Cancer cuts the east coast at exactly kilometre 69. A high conical monument surmounted by a ball materializes the place.
