This complex is a marvellous blend of traditional Chinese architecture and modern Western techniques

Founded in 1921 by philanthropist Chen Jiageng, Xiamen University is one of the most prestigious in southern China, renowned for its programs in economics, science and the arts. Its main campus, set between mountains and sea, is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. It offers a pleasant stroll through buildings combining Chinese and Western architecture, ponds, the Tan Kah Kee library and peaceful gardens. Close to Nanputuo temple, it's a popular stopover for tourists. It's very busy, so go in the morning.
