YUSHAN HILL
A hill in the heart of the city, home to a park with many interesting relics
Located in the heart of Fuzhou, Yushan Hill rises to 58 meters and is home to numerous historical relics. These include the Temple of Long Life, founded in the late Tang period, and the Pavilion of the Nine Immortals, dating from the Song period. The tomb of General Qi Jiguang, a Ming hero who fought Japanese pirates, is also located here. The 41-metre-high octagonal White Pagoda (Baita), erected in 904, is covered in white mortar. Finally, 113 calligraphic boulders, dating from the Song period to the present day, bear witness to Yushan's cultural importance.
