WUSHAN HILL
A hill in the south-east of the city, famous for its calligraphy by great historical figures
Wushan Hill, located in the south-east of Fuzhou, is one of the city's three emblematic hills. Rising to 87 meters, it offers panoramic views of Fuzhou and the Minjiang River. Famous for its 200 calligraphic inscriptions carved into the rock, some of which date back to the Tang period (618-907), it is also a place of cultural memory. The Black Pagoda (Wuta), erected in 941 under the Five Dynasties, stands proudly on the eastern side of the hill. Wushan is also home to traditional pavilions, temples and peaceful gardens.
