The town of Leshan has grown considerably with the tourist influx linked to the Great Buddha. Thus, the small paved streets and the lower houses of the city have given way to modern buildings and large animated arteries.The front of the river has nevertheless been pleasantly furnished and the city can be a relaxing step between the frantic pace of Chengdu and the thousands of steps of Mount Emei. But those who love walking will appreciate the far More Peaceful Buddha than Mount Emei. And the city night markets make it possible to spend a pleasant evening in Leshan.Note: The visit of Leshan can be done in the day since Chengdu, or form a step between Chengdu and Mount Emei.
