SHANGLINHU PORCELAIN KILNS

A splendid site nestled in hills. The porcelain ovens in the Kingdom of Yue (Yueyao), located near Shanglin Lake, were the main producers of the Tang céladons and the following dynasties. These ovens are the first to produce céladons (green porcelain) in China during the southern dynasties (420-581) and arrive at perfection in art under the Five Dynasties (907-960) before reaching the peak in production from the Tang. Production was exported to many Asian countries, including Japan and Korea.
