The museum, a little Russian in its architecture with its large building overcrowded with a star, is located west of Beijing on Chang 'an Jie just next to the new millennium monument. It bears the name of «the military museum of the Chinese people's revolution», the calligraphy is due to Mao Zedong, whose monumental statue, surrounded by the portraits of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin, welcomes visitors to the entrance.
