Cave with the last specimens of Sardinian monk seals
This cave, located at 10 meters above sea level, is accessible through stairs that can only be reached by boat. You can reach it after about 50 minutes of navigation from the ports of Arbatax and Santa Maria Navarrese. The cave was opened to the public in 2003. Until the cave was discovered by speleologists in the 1950s, the last specimens of Sardinian monk seals, last seen in the Gulf of Orosei 20 years ago, were hidden here. Between land and sea, it is one of the most beautiful caves of the Ogliastra.
