What better way to discover the soul of a town and mingle with the locals than to take a trip to the market? The San Benedetto market is the largest traditional food market in the city. Spices, fruits and vegetables, cheese and meat are on the first floor and the fish stalls are downstairs. The housewives come to fill their baskets early in the morning to find the best and freshest products. On Saturday mornings the crowds are so heavy that it becomes difficult to navigate the aisles between the overflowing stalls.
