National commemorative center to pay tribute to the 41,000 men and women who fought in the First World War.
Albany's history is strongly linked to that of the Australian and New Zealand Army, ANZAC, as it was from here on November1, 1914 that the first troops left to join the battlefields of World War I. This national commemorative center opened on November1, 2014, for the centenary of the troops' departure. The museum overlooks the bay from which more than 41,000 men and women departed and now honors their memory. Free exhibits are also available in the park's other buildings.
