PUFFING BILLY RAILWAY
Site at Dandenong Ranges to discover an old steam train that travels the 13 km of bush between Belgrave and Gembrook.
This century-old train brings the golden age of steam rail back to life over 25 km between the towns of Belgrave and Gembrook, crossing the lush forests of the Dandenong Ranges on spectacular wooden bridges, with journeys varying in length from 2 to 6 hours round trip. Passengers can once again sit on the ledges of the open carriages with their legs dangling, a tradition to be reintroduced in 2022. There's also the Lakeside Visitor Centre, with interactive exhibits and a modern café.
