Forum Melbourne
The Forum Melbourne, inaugurated in 1929 as the State Theatre, is one of the city's architectural gems. Designed by the American John Eberson, it simulates a Florentine courtyard under a starry sky. Its Moorish facade, with minarets and clock tower, reinforces its character. Renovated in 2016, it has regained its original mosaic entrance and statues. It hosts concerts, festivals and stand-up shows, usually starting at 7 or 8 pm. Doors open an hour early, leaving plenty of time to settle in or grab a drink at the bar.
