Blackall is located on the Barcoo River in the heart of the country of merino sheep. The town was made famous by the sheep tondeur, Jack Howe, who set a world record by cutting 321 sheep in 4 hours to the station of Alice Downs in 1982. It had to wait 58 years for its record to be matched, and it was equipped with machines. The site is also known for its rodeos (www.blackall.qld.gov.au).
