Petit Futé's opinion on HIGH DENISON
Originally known as Pinchgut, Fort Denison was, among other things, an open-pit prison for the most recalcitrant bagnards. This tiny island is located in the middle of Sydney Harbor, about 1 km east of the Opera House and northeast of the Royal Botanic Gardens. Accessible in five minutes from Circular Quay. The place is now a museum of maritime and colonial history and offers one of the most beautiful views of Sydney. Enjoy a guided tour of the tower because it would be a pity not to learn anything from the island's history. The guides are dynamic, funny and will not miss historical anecdotes to entertain you. Possibility to stay on the island in a pleasant restaurant with a fantastic view of the Opera and Sydney Bay. This restaurant serves tasty dishes, but it is very advisable to book to make sure you have a table and above all enjoy the view! Before 1:00 p. m., you can watch the hot tub!
