Bangarra Dance Theatre is an Aboriginal (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) contemporary dance company founded in 1989. It is a permanent resident of the Opera House. In addition to the success of its annual tours, notably to Australia, the USA and the UK, it has been awarded the Helpmann Prize on several occasions.
