HELLENISTIC CEMETERY

For archaeology enthusiasts, an initial excavation uncovered tombs from the Hellenistic period in the 3rd century B.C. However, the site was even more important than the initial excavation suggested. In 2003, older tombs from the 6th century BC were also found. Nine cisterns were also discovered, carved into the granite. They are considered to be monuments of great historical importance and protected by the Greek Ministry of Culture.
