private islet for walking with numerous creeks suitable for swimming
Another private island, Madouri belongs to the descendants of the famous Greek poet Aristotle Valaoritis. Topped by a neoclassical house on the waterfront, it was bought by the poet's son, Yiannis Valaoritis, then director of the National Bank of Greece. You can easily walk through the cypress trees in Kalamos, a large rock of 24 square kilometres with a population of 700. Located 10 minutes by boat from the coastal village of Mytica, it was described by Homer as the island of Kranos. Its many creeks are suitable for swimming.
