Discover the ruins of the ancient fortified acropolis of Patmos which is located on the heights of Skala.

On the heights of Skala, a hill dominates the surroundings: this is where the ruins of the ancient fortified acropolis of Patmos can be found. The first inhabitants of the island settled here: the first traces of habitation date back to the Dorians. Then the place was continuously inhabited from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Today, there is not much left except for the fortifications of the classical period (4th century BC) but the ascent to the acropolis promises a beautiful walk and above all an exceptional view of Patmos and the sea.
