MARBLE MUSEUM

Overlooking the village, you will see a contemporary building: this is where the Marble Museum, opened in 2008 to highlight the history of marble craftsmanship in Tinos, is located. Here you can learn about the techniques used to extract marble and the tools and equipment needed to work it. But we also learn about the social and economic context in which this craft developed in the region. The pre-industrial period is highlighted, as it is the apogee of marble craftsmanship on the island of Tinos.
