Church built on an ancient temple dedicated to Zeus which was transformed into a mosque.
Remember his name: the saint Paraskevi is the patron saint of Chalkida. The building dedicated to him here is a5th century basilica built on the site of a temple dedicated to Artemis, Apollo and Leto. In the 13th century, the Venetians added Gothic sculptures to it. This church is an important Byzantine monument, already by its impressive size (38.40 m by 19.90 m). The church was originally built on a former temple dedicated to Zeus. During the Ottoman period, it was, as often in the country, transformed into a mosque.
