Site presenting paleochristian basilicas with a row of semicircular seats for the priests.
To get there, follow the Lamia road for 18 km. The site is in the centre of the city. The Nea Anchialos site is located on the site of two ancient sites: Pirassos and, above all, the former Thebes of Thessaly, Thebes Pthiotide, of which Pirassos was the port. The site features early Christian basilicas. Dating from approximately the 6th century, according to the archaeologists who still work there, they have pretty curiosities, such as the synthronon of Basilica B, a row of semi-circular seats for priests.
