Cave with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites in Kokinogion.
This river cave (also called Aghitis) is located at the southern foot of Mount Falakro, 25 km from the town of Drama. Discovered in 1978 by a team of Greek and French speleologists, it contains stalactites and stalagmites whose colors due to the presence of metals are sublime. It is the longest cave in Greece and the source of a mysterious and partially unexplored river. Excavations have revealed tools and bones of prehistoric animals, some of which are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Drama.
