Roman agora dating from the 2nd century with underground spaces, an odeon and a museum.

In the early Christian era, the center of public life in Thessaloniki was located in the present-day Dikastirion Square. The agora was built in the 2nd century AD. It was surrounded by porticoes with double colonnades as can be seen on the agora of Athens. The southern portico, whose site is now cleared, stood on a subterranean space - visible today - where there were stores. To the east, an odeon, now restored. Excavations continue to this day on the site of the agora, which also houses a museum.

Effectivement ce site est situé en plein centre ville en extérieur sur une très grande surface et visible dès son pourtour en cheminant sur les bordures. On peut y voir l'organisation architecturale du lieu avec ses colonnes, portiques, bâtisses, caves...etc Bon il faut un peu d'imagination pour se faire une idée de ce que c'était à l'époque, c'est un champs de ruines en cours de rénovation et de fouilles (visible sous vos yeux).

Vaste espace de ruines en plein centre ville avec de nombreuses colonnes et arcades. Sensation originale d'avoir d'un côté ces ruines et de l'autre la vie quotidienne actuelle avec ses commerces et bâtiments.
