The Alexander the Great Marathon is a run over the usual distance of the marathon (42.195 km) that takes place every year between Pella and Thessaloniki, Greece, in April. Founded in 2006, the race begins in Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great and capital of the former kingdom of Macedonia, and ends in Thessaloniki. In addition to the marathon, the day's events include the popular five- and ten-kilometre fun runs
