CARNAVAL DE PATRAS

The Patras Carnival is the biggest carnival in Greece! It begins on January 17 and ends on "Pure Monday". All Greece rushes to Patras to attend this major event which lasts between six and seven weeks. Its Great Parade, which dates back to 1860, has nothing to envy to that of more famous carnivals, it gathers in music floats and carnival people remarkably dressed. This highly festive event, which is held out of season and puts the whole city in a festive mood, is well worth a visit to Patras.
