GYMNASE
The first monument you cross on your right by entering the ancient Olympia site is the gymnasium, where the title contenders had the obligation to come to train before the Olympic Games. The Kladéos River today won the western part, but one can imagine that the gymnasium was a large rectangular building composed of Doric porticos surrounding a large open courtyard. It was in this court that athletes were trained when time allowed. In the event of a large canicule or rain, the trainings took place under the porticos, which were 210,50 m.
The gymnasium has not yet been fully cleared, and it must be imagined that the colonnades stretched well after the bridge preceding the site entrance to the new museum.
Finally, the bases of the erechtheon that linked the palaestra to the south of the gymnasium and served him were also required.
