A circular building, the Philippéion was probably built during the reign of Philippe II of Macedonia and was completed by his son Alexander the Great, who then called him Philippéion by veneration for his father. Within this construction, a bench was held on which the statues of Philippe, Alexander and other members of their families were deposited.

j'avais visité Olympie il y a prèsd e40 ans et comme beaucoup de monuments de ce site, l'essentiel est resté par terre.
Y retournant l'été dernier, j'ai eu la joie de voir que ce temple avait été bien restauré. Sa belle forme ronde a fière allure dan ce site et donne à rêver ce que devait être cet lieu.
